Well there is nothing more monumental than the 'ol India Gate. But going to India gate at 3:30 in the night has a completely different aura to it.
To start with, there are no ice cream wallas, no bhel puri wallas, no families, no honkering cars, no toy sellers and so on: there is no one. For a moment after you first step outside your car and reach India Gate, you don't feel like it's India Gate anymore. But soon after you start loving the feeling of ownership of the place...
Next, there are barricades guarded by armymen. However, they do not stop you from crossing them. I guess asking for their permission is always a better option.
Lastly, the India Gate is unlit, unlike in the evening when it is bathed in blazing lights. And, believe me, the serenity is engulfing...
